Business Consultant (expert. in EU policies on Sustainability)


Mission and tasks

This position is for a large project implementing extensive requirements and business processes in the scientific and regulation area. The Business Consultant performs a wide range of duties including the following:

  • Gathers relevant information in order to understand the customer’s strategy and processes;
  • Assesses the customer’s strategy on the basis of the applicable EU guidelines and regulations on Sustainable Development (2030 Green Agenda of Europa), innovation and green economy growth practices;
  • Describes the client’s “as is” and “to be” situation on the basis of the business targets determined by and/or with the customer;
  • Designs a scalable, comprehensive, and integrated solution (IT or business roadmap) that meets the customer’s requirements as closely as possible;
  • Analyses and assesses risks and threats, as well as opportunities, and builds a business case, including a financial business case, that enables the customer to make a decision on the various options relating to the implementation of the solution;
  • Determines the implementation plan for the solution on the basis of the options selected by the customer and may take part in drafting the specifications (RFP) that the customer will submit to their suppliers;
  • Assists the customer with the implementation of the solution and during the initial usage period;
  • Establishes preferred relations with the customer, and positions the services offered by the company with the customer.


The ideal candidate will be expected to possess the following:

  • University degree and MSc in fields such as International Management, European Studies, Political Science, European law, etc.;
  • 8-10 years’ experience in the area of Business Consultancy in EU policies while managing large scale IT projects for European Institutions;
  • Strong expertise in regulatory affairs on Sustainable Development (SD) and good knowledge of targeted business domains such as climate change governance and environmental information management systems;
  • Deep understanding of digitalization and data management to enable innovation and green economy growth;
  • Additional expertise in waste management, climate change or circular economy will be considered as an asset;
  • Excellent communicational and organizational skills as well as sound judgement, and the ability to discern key issues and deal with them effectively;
  • Excellent command of English both written and spoken (C1 mandatory), knowledge of French or German would be considered as an asset;
  • Flexibility for frequent travel and able to work in an international and multi-cultural environment.
